why we are against copying in design

We do understand that the best design is often imitated, however lovehandbags.co.uk are against counterfeiting and will only ever sell 100% authentic luxury goods 100% of the time.  We fully support the design industry, legitimate companies and conscientious shopping.

The purchase of luxury products on-line is becoming increasingly problematic, as many of these items (for both new and pre-loved) are for counterfeit goods.  A huge percentage of which are dishonestly advertised as authentic for the same price or as close to as the genuine item - however some are advertised at a price which reflects the inherent inferior quality of the item. These counterfeit, mirror or high copies appear genuine to many unsuspecting buyers, though in most cases the lack of quality will give the game away.  Unfortunately many of these items are re -advertised for sale as authentic (occasionally in belief of this) by the original purchaser - leading to a recycling of fake, poor quality goods, with your investment truly wasted.  See some useful tips in our how to be counterfeit aware guide.

keep it real & be aware...

Have you ever purchased a seemingly harmless designer copy?  Were you aware at that time of the real cost behind your purchase? Have you ever stopped to consider where the money you spend on fake consumer products ends up and more to the point what exactly your money may have or may be going to support?

of the devastating effects of counterfeiting across the globe!

It has been well documented that the sale of counterfeit products can directly and indirectly financially support numerous illegal activities. Equally concerning is the fact that many of these items are highly detrimental to your basic health and safety.  From cosmetics and foodstuff to car parts, electrical goods and childrens toys, many of these items are potentially fatal due to their lawless illegal development and the unmonitored conditions in which they are produced.

The demand for goods produced by the counterfeit industries currently dictates child labour, amongst its numerous other illegal activities, remains rife.  Children are confined within bonded labour situations, whilst living in slum conditions with inadequate nutrition and hygiene.  It has been reported that in extreme situations many are chained to machinery, have their legs broken and subsequently incorrectly reset so to disable them from escaping and sadly ever playing out again.

Many children are sold into this industry by their families to pay off debts owed and many become easy targets of sexual abuse by employers and co-workers. Further to being denied education, children who work are frequently victims of mistreatment, physical violence and psychological abuse.

UNICEF states that 'child labour not only hinders children’s well-being but also slows the world’s progress in achieving its long-term development goals'. Along with partners such as the ILO, UNESCO and the World Bank, UNICEF has formed the Global Task Force on Child Labour and Education for All to promote policies, generate resources and put in place practical measures that will combat child labour. To put it quite simply children who work cannot gain access to education, and whilst they receive wages which are a fraction of what the adults earn, poverty will remain rife and their chances of ever being taught will be out of reach.

Sadly this multi billion illegal industry remains unregulated and invisible to the law... as do its workers and their basic human rights.  It is possible to make a difference by educating yourself and others regarding these issues.
